Art 2
Students will further develop the concepts from Art 1, as well as provide a deeper understanding of the elements and principles of design. Students will be introduced to new drawing and painting techniques and media. They will create drawings utilizing processes such as sketching, rendering, contour, gesture, and perspective drawing. Students will also experience sequential learning that encompasses various painting techniques.

Surrealism in Black and WhiteSurrealistic drawing in black and white color pencil on brown kraft paper.
Students will first take a picture of a set of hands - their own or someone else. They will then search for and add other images and elements to their hand composition to create a Surrealistic drawing. Students will potentially need to change the scale of certain images in order to incorporate them successfully into their composition. Multiple Elements and Principles will be utilized in this drawing, specifically: unity, proportion, space, and contrast. |

Fragmented Portrait: Cubism
Students will learn the basics of Cubism and use this knowledge to draw a fragmented portrait in pencil. Students will use create their own original composition using portraiture as the foundation. How students deconstruct the face, combine images, or define the rules is completely up to each individual. The final product can be realistic or abstract. The final product just needs to be unified and balanced. |
