observational Drawing Exercises
These exercises are to be completed on your own. Set a timer on your phone, or computer.
1.
Choose an object from the class room. You will be completing 10 Contour Drawings. Draw your object 10 times, two minutes each (quick, simple drawings, try to draw fluid lines) - Training your hands and eyes to work together. 20 minutes total.
2.
Choose a new object or use the same one chosen for the above exercise. You will be drawing Continuous Line Drawings (DON'T TAKE YOUR PEN OFF THE PAPER!). Draw your object 2 times, 5 minutes each time. 10 minutes total.
3.
Negative Space Drawings. Draw your object/new object 2 times, 5 minutes each. Draw your object by focusing on the space around the object. 10 minutes total.
4.
This time draw your object/new object as a Blind Contour Drawing (DON'T LOOK AT YOUR PAPER!). 2 times, 5 minutes each. 10 minutes total.
5.
10 min. Longer Study. 2 times - Any technique you like! - Your favorite object! 20 minutes total.
