Learn about the Elements of Art and apply them to your own work.
Group Project: Understanding Elements
Create a Google Slides presentation with your group.
1 and 1/2 classes to prepare.
Expectations: Presentations should include at least 6 slides, including images of work and written information. Presentations should last between 3 to 5 minutes and involve all group members.
1. Research your assigned element. Be ready to share the following:
- Why it's important.
- How artists use it as they make art.
2. Find 4 example of work that incorporate it. At least one must be abstract, one must be non-objective. Know the artist, date the work was created, media and important information about the work.

Independent Project: Inspired by Elements
Inspiration: Choose an Element of Art that you connect with and use it as the motivation to make original artwork.
Time frame is 4 class periods, media is your choice - depending on the limitations of our classroom space.
Design: Select 2 or 3 design activities to develop your ideas.
Research, list, brainstorm, sketch, experiment, find resource images, make a model.
Create: make your final artwork, problem-solving to fix issues as you work.
Reflect/Present: Share your work through a blog post or presentation.
